Struggling to find fun, local activities for your family? Look no further than MacaroniKID Owens Cross Roads – Scottsboro! Led by local resident Kelly Kerr, this online resource curates a calendar of events, ideas, and activities specifically geared towards families in your area.

Meet Kelly, a busy mom of four (bonus son, Jayce, 16; Kayden, 8; Kingston, 5; and Kiara, 3) who understands the challenge of keeping kids entertained. For the past six years, with her husband Scott by her side, she has tackled the information overload by gathering all the best family-friendly options in one place – MacaroniKID. Whether you’re looking for upcoming events, creative inspiration, or simply ideas for a fun afternoon, MacaroniKID has you covered.

A local site with local events and activities

Forget generic national sites! MacaroniKID delivers the local goodness your family craves. Each publisher, like Kelly in Owens Cross Roads, curates their own events and activities, ensuring you get the inside scoop on what’s happening near you.

But it doesn’t stop there! Kelly champions local businesses too, giving you a chance to discover hidden gems and support your community. Story times at the New Hope library? Check! Spring sports sign-ups? Listed! Need to connect with local recreation centers or leagues? One click lands you right on their registration page. It’s all about making family fun easier than ever.

Inspired to share

When asked what inspired her to start her career with MacaroniKID, Kelly says “I was a business owner – the MacaroniKID opportunity was brought to me to use as a marketing tool for the Family Yoga Studio I owned in South Florida. The advertising worked – I got a ton of new families into the studio, and I had other businesses reaching out to me to advertise as well. It was great.  When our family moved here to Alabama, I had to give my site up, but I was very fortunate to be able to start one for our area. Specifically – Owens Cross Roads, Brownsboro, New Hope, Gurley, and Woodville out to Scottsboro.”

Staying connected, powering her business

For Kelly, reliable internet is the backbone of her MacaroniKID business. Operating entirely online, she juggles tasks like client communication, calendar updates, content creation, and even recruiting new publishers for MacaroniKID nationwide – all through video calls and online tools.

NHTC’s fiber delivers

Kelly emphasizes the unwavering strength of her NHTC fiber connection, praising its resilience even during storms. This consistent performance ensures uninterrupted workflow, essential for managing her business and supporting her community with local event resources.

Gaming kids, no problem

Beyond business needs, Kelly’s family enjoys their fair share of online gaming across various devices. Despite this simultaneous demand, the internet connection holds strong, showcasing its ability to handle multiple users and bandwidth-intensive activities seamlessly.

Connecting with the community

Kelly cites connecting with the community, helping other business owners, and taking her kids around to explore new places and experiences as some of her favorite aspects of working for MacaroniKID. “Building local connections, empowering businesses, and creating family memories – that’s what motivates me at MacaroniKID. Every day brings new opportunities to make a difference in our community, and that’s something I truly cherish.”

Advice for working from home

Kelly’s advice to others who are considering a work-from-home career is to try and have a separate area, and a set schedule. The lines can get blurred when you work from home, and you can just pop on to do a task and end up sitting there for an hour working… at least, she says, that’s what happens to her.  “Ever accidentally spend an hour on a ‘quick task’ at your kitchen table? You’re not alone! That’s why home office, set schedule, repeat is my mantra for work-from-home sanity. Don’t forget your secret weapon: a to-do list to keep you on track. Work-life balance achieved!”

Reliable community resource

Kelly’s goal is to be a reliable community resource for families including local businesses to frequent, ideas and activities to enjoy with the family, and a list of doctors, dentists, and preschools among other things for new families moving to town.

So, ditch the endless searching and explore what your own backyard has to offer with MacaroniKID Owens Cross Roads – Scottsboro. Kelly’s got your back (and your calendar filled with local adventures)!
